Namita Mohandas
Head, Digital Products
At HDI, Namita nurtures a growing product team and portfolio, focussing on Digital Product Management, Product Strategy, Learning and Knowledge Frameworks, Participatory User Research, and Creative Content.
She is a Product Management Consultant with thirteen years of expertise leading product and program cycles within the context of serious games, ed-tech apps, civic open-data platforms as well as public health and social impact.
Prior to joining the HDI team, she worked with policy think tanks, media platforms, not-for-profits, start-ups and public health consultancies. She led Vihara Innovation Network’s Digital Health and SRH verticals, leading creative strategy, prototyping and formative research for Game of Choice not Chance. She managed and directed Vihara’s work with PATH India and Pronto International, anchoring knowledge management for family planning supply chain innovations, and research-led prototyping for a digital midwifery training platform.
Namita also served as a STEM-learning consultant for Limitless Child International’s program for children and youth in underserved communities and institutional care; as a Data Consultant building the Himachal Pradesh Fiscal Data Explorer for the Open Budgets India platform and an Urban Air Quality platform in association with UrbanSciences, IIT Kanpur and Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation; as a Product Manager at Indusgeeks building immersive learning environments, multi-user simulations and serious games for clients including Stanford Med School, Infosys, Essar Oil, Cognizant, Max Life Insurance. Namita is an uncertified management geek, with a penchant for organizational structure, efficiency, and fit-for-purpose quality. She enjoys teaching and has served as Visiting Faculty at Ambedkar University’s Social Design program, developing and facilitating courses in Data Visualisation; Information Modelling and Digital User Research; Experience Design.
She is an early riser, enjoys uncomfortable conversations, coffee, cooking (and alliterations). She believes in her low-waste, inconvenient lifestyle.
